Dear Members,
You see I just can't paint a dio for the life of me. I only had built 3 dioramas in my whole modeling life, and they were'nt the greatest. This one...well I'm on my 3rd paint paint job. Can't seem to get the colors right. So I'm asking for a little help here. (1) Whats wrong with the colors, am I missing something, doing something wrong! (2) Does anything more need to be added. I do have a second figure to be added. So please if anyone could help out that would be super. Thanks,
Joe

Try this.

For the wall.

1. Give the wall a dark grey wash.

2. Then give it a wash of white pigment in tamyia thinner, wiping off any that gets on the face of the stones.

3. Take the wall color and re-dry brush the wall.

4. Add some buff to the base color and re drybrush

5. More buff to the mix, dry brush again.

For the ground

1. give it a dark brown wash

2. add buff to the base coat color and dry brush

3 repeat

Try that and post up some pics!

Joe-
First off, I think the dio looks to be coming along very well and I can't wait to see the finished product. Second, you could try adding some scrub grass or some type of green vegetation to break up the monotonous grey / sand color. Third, it is hard to tell from the photos but did you carry the ground color onto the wall and rubble? Usually, this will make everything blend together better because there won't be stiff contrasts from one color to the next. If it is there, maybe try to carry it up higher.
Hope this helps.

The hole in the wall: is it new or old?... If its just been made by a weapon blast then the interior of the hole may be a lighter color than the exterior of the wall.. If its an older hole then the color difference may not be noticeable , but the damaged area could collect moisture that would run off and leave a stain down the wall,, maybe even some moss growing in that area.. just some thoughts.
