I just made a MAJOR change in the domain address info tonight that will basically eliminate the usage of the domain "armorama.com". Ok...I have your attention I bet. This is a user support issue actually. Probably several of you have already had some cookie problems while using the site and it all boils down to this. Up until tonight some of us were using:

http://armorama.com

and some were using:

https://armorama.kitmaker.net

When the people who regularly used one or the other accidently (or intentionally) went to the other site, this would sometimes create issues with proper login, language use, and other problems.

So... as of tonight, there is no one using http://armorama.com as you have all been re-directed to https://armorama.kitmaker.net. Make sense?

Here are the important things to realize. If you were logged in on the non-www domain then you are probably not logged in anymore. Please just re-login above and all should be well.

IF you are having any issues I would STRONGLY recommend that you remove (delete) your old cookies or just any cookie that coresponds to armorama.com. Cookies are ussually stored in your User files area and if your PC login name was "joe" then the cookie in question would likely be named:

[email protected]

...or sometimes:

[email protected][2]

Please contact me via the contact page link below if you have any issues.

I am sorry for any short-term problems this causes but it will greatly improve our long-term user support issues.

Thanks,
Jim

Anders,
Technically anything before the "domain.domainextension" is called a sub-domain. I would guess that "www" was chosen to say that if say IBM wanted a public Web site then it would be at "www.ibm.com". As time went on though they started to drop the www and just allowed the primary domain to resolve to the public Web site.

The only reason I decided not to resolve everything to armorama.com is because I figured more people were using www.armorama.com and it would be better not to cause problems with logins etc. with the majority.

I doubt it. That sounds more like an ISP problem with the IP address or just slow server speeds. From what I can see recently though our main Web server seems to be working much more speedily.

Steve,
That is one of the issues this change is suppose to prevent (in-future). It sounds like your machine is one that has multiple cookies on it. I just logged out without issue just to be sure.

See if you can removed the offending cookie and if that doesn't solve that problem.

They should have called these things something other than cookies. They sound so....pleasant.

I guess that was the plan.

Jim
