Hello chaps!

I just put together Austin K2 from the airfix "RAF emergency set".
The pics are just prior painting. Kit went together well except for some cleanup that was needed for the kit shows its age. It will be painted to depict an ambulance serving with the Desert rats in the North Africa. So I'm geuessing the paint must be light stone for example humbrol no. 121 right ? It will be my entry for the "Miniature magic" campaign. What do you think of it so far? Any comments and suggestions are wellcome!

Cheers,
Pedro

Hi Pedro!

Lovely model - haven't built one of those for ... a long time

Looks great to me - is it too late to thin the back doors a little?

Would love to see more in-progress picks, I've got a soft spot for the old Airfix stuff.

Looking forward to more pics.

Adrian

Looking good - I've got 3 of the emergency vehicle sets, and a couple of the refuelling sets to do - loads of conversions for the campaign.

You're making a good job of a very under-rated kit - great little models with a bit of care in assembly.

Thanks for replies guys!
I worked on it last night and added few details: rear view mirrors (I'm only afraid my airbrush will blow them off ) canvas doors and mud skirts made of aluminium foil, steps under the cab made of some thin wire and last thing was turning the wheels.

Adrian, I also have soft spot for those old arfix kits, especialy trucks! It was good idea to thin the back doors, thanks for pointing that out, and no, it was not too late but I'm still working on them

Dave, this is my second emergency set, I've built the first one when I was in my primary school I have also the refueling set and the recovery set that were built years ago and arein need of being redone

ps. I've made the rear view mirrors thanks to my girlfriend Ania who pointed that out looking on the pics of real Austin truck. Thanks Sunshine!

Cheers,
Pedro

WOW! Looks very good and it's a very nice idea to convert it into a dessert troops ambulance.
I'll be following your progress!

The doors are finished and now its ready to be painted!
I've thinned them down by almost half with sanpaper, then added some 'detail' made of thin wire on the inside and finally I've removed the left door handle from the outside for there was only one on the real truck
007, Roo, thanks for compliments, I'm doing my best!

Cheers,
Pedro

Looking good! Love the doors and mirrors (and mudflaps)
