Hey is there anybody who can give me some information about the german fieldkitchen?
I've bought it, but I think the kit isn't complete. The kit is from Tamya.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi,

I have both Tamiya kits - i.e. the one with the horses and the one with the cooks.

What do you think is missing?

Cheers

Rick,
Check out SCHIFFER`S new mag/book called GERMAN MILITARY TRAILERS AND TOWED EQUIPMENT by Horst Beiersdorf. The front cover accually shows the rear end of a feldkuche in use albeit not the exact versions as Tamiyas but very close showing the steps and the coffee dispenser. It seems as the war progressed and horse drawn apperatus turnd to rubber tired equipment a lot of it either stayed the same, changed slightly,or was put on trucks of all kinds. There also seems to be as many feild kitchens as there were differant types of trucks they were put on .Tamiyas model could feed 170 personel in the field with only one cook . A while ago I purchesed Scale Model Accessories feild kitchen model 106 witch is a differant configuration ie. rubber wheels but basically the same thing.

I have the kit with the cooks, and the eating soldiers I have too.
But when I look to the image on the box, I see a few things what I can’t find in the box:
The coffeetap, a handle, a stepladder and chains. The chains I have already made from a ship chain from the model shop, but the other thins looks me hardly to make myself.

Rick,
What you really need to get your hands on is the vol.27 of Military Miniatures in Review, most commenly known as MMiR. Try them at ampersandpublishingco.com. This issue illistrates and explains exactly what you are looking for in extra-detailing this, what I think is an excelent reissued, kit.

Rick, Prbesch is right!! Get the MMIR #27. the diorama article by Joe Porter features a Tamiya field kitchen and shows how he detailed it. Some of the bits you mention, the coffee spigot for example, are on the box but not in the kit. In fact, the Mr. Porter mentions the box art as a source for detailing. Lots of fun though. I'm on my second.JOCK

Everybody must have the same idea's with these kits. I've done a dio using these 2 kits plus the machinegun team on manuveres. The scene shows the kitchen with a group of soldiers eating and relaxing and a column of men marching past on way to the front giving them looks of envy.
here is a link to view some pictures of this:-
http://groups.msn.com/armorama/remearmrswork.msnw?albumlist=2
sorry for the quality of the pictures, I am trying to get a better camera.
Also used in the picture is the puppy(with the group of eating soldiers) a dead rabbit and some eggs in a helmet all from the Tamiya livestock set.
I hope this helps to give you some idea's for your dio.
:-)

Hi Rick! Im currently working on the same kit as well...... My idea is to use a kettenkrad from tamiya towing the field kitchen...... You could check out February s issue of scale models international where they featured a dio of the tamiya field kitchen being loaded on a truck.

I presume modern US army has field kitchens too. Does anyone have pictures of these (folded and during "operation") ? Maybe an interesting item for scratchbuilding.
Thanks !

In a magazine I just baught, there's a great picture of a german field kitchen in Normandy : the german cook has his hands on the head, while american soldiers are smelling the still hot soup they've just liberated. I'll try to scan it tonight.
