Unfortunately I could not find any in this forum!
Maybe some has got an good technique and could post it?

The trak itself is going to be rust colored (except the very top on heavily traved rails.... it'll be a steel color)

the ties are a dark brown creosote color. and the balast... may vary as to the local area

Best thing is to look at the real thing. After some time everything (track, sleepers and ballast) is rust colered exept for the top of the track which is shining metal due to use.

Also stpfan dont forget the embankmen could have rock cutting - I use plaster mould eaither making my own useing latex rubber with several coat the last with a badage in it to strengthen it or use the one produced by woodland scenics just spray with cheap artist acrylic watered down and add detergent and put in misting bottle does incredible soft hue for rock then finish with a dark burnt umber wash

Model Railroader

I have said it before, and I''ll say it again. Diorama Modelers can learn a LOT from Model Railroaders. Especially on groundwork and terrain.
Not to mention railroad track.

P.S. Look for "Garden Railroading" or "Large Scale" type railroading. G Scale and No. 1 Scale both center around 1/32 scale.
