Some pictures of the helicopter OH-6-A (DML Dragon) in the first stages of inside detailing, the NVA infantry that the gunner of the OH-6 will be shooting in the diorama while NVA´s run to the trap, and the antiaircraft heavy machine gun Dshk 12,7 mm and crew that will shootdown the Loach by surprise. The NVA´s will be running trough a rice paddy towards the Dshk position, just like an "air ambush".
I need feedback about the sensations about the look of the figures.
I´ll keep on posting about the diorama.
Thanks in advance ¡¡¡¡

How did you do the mg crew?
I have the Chinese volunteer crew, but they are wearing padded uniforms, and would be none too comfortable in Viet Nam...
Looks great.
There are a couple of descriptions in Low Level Hell by Hugh Mills about donut shaped firing positions, with the gun on a central pedestal and the trench dug all the way around.
I had a similar idea, but without a mg crew it never got off the ground...

Thank you, and about the crew are figures of the DML Dragon kit "NVA Sappers", like the NVA running infantry of the picture above, with arms exchanged and hands from scrap box.
The diorama is inspired by the stories of captain Hugh Mills in the Squadron Signal book "Gunslingers".
Good luck with your dio ¡¡¡¡

Just a tiny tiny prob the raised arm of the guy running should have the shoulder higher- I know this sound goblegook but when you raise your arm th shoulders are raised < not > as the figure has his shoulder actually> withe the arm the only thing raised
Have a look at yourself in a mirror and raise and lower your arm and you will see what I mean
I hope this is helpful because your positioning of the other pieces are great - love the door gunner can just imagine 7.62 casings flying everywhere

Impressive!!!
I agree with Fanai. The left arm of the running soldier need some improvement. One more thing, how about the pilot look at the same direction as the gunner?
Can't wait to see the complete dio

Well Bro, your at it again.
As you know, it always makes my day better to see that your starting another Nam build, and i have now noticed something that to me is unusual... you have basically fully assembled that Loach, and all fig's for the diorama, without painting them, tell me, isn't painting the loach going to be very hard when its basically finished like that, what is the trick?
Cheers mate, and be sure to keep us updated.

The only thing I'd change is the gatlin gun on the loach.
They locked the gun down in line with the fuselage and used the helicopter itself to aim the gun.
But I have to say I love it so far.

Very nice story, wonderful alterations too. Very creative. I think it's going to be a very fun diorama to view.
One thought - the pilots head would be a bit more realistic if it were twisted down and right (his) just a bit.

Looks very interesting. I can't wait to see how you make the helo look like its flying. One other thing I noticed was that the pilot's hand should be gripping the throttle control lever below where it is now, not resting on the end of it. Good luck with the dio, not that you will need it with your dio skills.

Thanks David for your comments. About the OH-6, the outside of the chopper is only fixed with tape, and the cockpit pieces aren´t all glued. They are put together for the picture; I use to do that to see the efffect in a big size photo (you can se things better in a big picture than in real view).
But figures have almost all pieces glued together; I use to glue all the pieces (but the ones I must paint before). So I can fill all the gaps between pieces of equipment an the body of the figure just with a lot of Tamiya liquid cement.
Bye.

Thank you for you comment. Yes, I have to remake the grip of the pilot in bow stick (ciclic and colective); that´s why I use to make this "mock up" pictures, because I can see thing better than in real view.
Best regard.

Thank you very much for your comment. I´ll put some putty on the shoulder of the soldier with the backpack and AK for a better look (really I´m very lazy modeller, so I hoped that won´t be neccesary to use the putty, at all, but...).
About the casing flying everywhere, I´m thinking about it long time ago........
Best regards

Hello mr. Leung, I ´m very happy to see you, I´m a big fun of your vietnam dioramas, they are very inspiring for me ¡¡¡¡
I´ll correct the problem of the "happy" NVA with some putty for a better look, because he´s a very important figure in the dio; he is the visual link between the chopper and the running NVA; his left arm will point to the gunner of the OH, leading the viewer from the rice paddy to the air...
About the pilot, It´s suppose that the pilot look at the Dshk, but the gunner still don´t realise the danger , and is just "happily" shooting the NVAs.
But thanks a lot for your comments. Happy to meet you ¡¡¡¡¡

I really like what you have started. I have wondered if there was something different that could be done with NVA sappers. Cant wait to see more.
