I am working on a F-18, and I was painting the bombs for it last night (putting the yellow stripe around the bomb) using masking tape. Getting a stripe rather straight and to match other bombs is very difficult. Do any one have a good trick for this?

I read somewhere that you could make a chuck so that you could attach the bomb to the shaft of a motor. You can then paint the stripe while the bomb is rotating. This would result in an even stripe. I've never tried this yet , though

Ciao Jay,
Try this: roll up a paper that will fit over the end of the bomb where the stripe will be. Then you can concentrate on keeping the one line straight because the paper will cover up the other side of the line.
Another way to do it is to get a white out pen and put a white stripe around the bomb, then color it yellow with a yellow sharpie.
Ciao for now
Rob

here's a tip I read once and took note of..
paint the bomb yellow first around the area where the stripe will be..
then use a small rubber band such as the ones that are used for braces or retainers.. to mask over the yellow then apply your bomb color..

If you can find one. The old Decoregger is nice. it was basically a hand type lathe looking device used to paint stripes on easter eggs. I have one and you just put a lump of clay on both spindle ends, then place the bomb in the clay and align it and just use the attached arm to steady you bush or pen and merely spin the knob and around she goes. I would not take a $100 bucks for this thing. Found it at a thrift store
