Hey all,

My kids have been tormenting me about seeing a big dio (several meters square). I've seen one in person (about 3mx6m) set in the Ardennes, but I'd like to show them something online. Can anyone point me in the direction of a large 1:35 dio? (Time, place and vehicles don't really matter.)

Here are a couple that were at AMPS East in 2003 from the Armorama Events gallery.

Not quite as big as you're looking for, but still pretty impressive in size and amount of work.

I have a copy of Military Modelling magazine where Andrea built a 1/32 scale dio of their Das Boot submarine. It was a dry dock scene.

The U-boat itself was over 6ft. Easily 2 meters. Just imagine the rest of the scene. It took them over a year to finish.

Well, I'm not sure how big is big in your book, but here are a few that I have been using for reference (inspiration) for a project I am working on.

This one is simply amazing!

These aren't all that big, as big goes, but exceptionally well detailed.

Hello Marc,

This one is probably not large enough (0.7mx1.1m) but here is it anyway.

But i want to turn the question around, do you have a picture of the 3x6m Ardennes Dio? I'm doing something like that and would really love to see this one.

Cheers

I can't seem to find them, but Bob Letterman-VLS-had done several large dio's that are simply amazing. Fine Scale Modeling did an article on a few of them a couple of months ago.

Sorry, did not notice that as i am a logged-in member.

Anyway (i don't weant to divert from the original thread)
the site "Models in Action" is an excellent site, free registration and a lot to see. Most of it is even translated in english, so also the text for the dio i linked). Feel free to have a look ( i have no relation with the site) http://www.models-in-action.com

Thanks and sorry again

Wow! Thanks everyone for the for the info. The kids (9 and 7) are busy drawing up plans for something involving a M26 Dragon Wagon, perhaps an LCM. Maybe a Rhine crossing dio or something like that.
