I have just completed my DML Tiger I initial. It took me about 3 moinths (I am still at school). The fit of all the parts were perfect . DML included a huge number of photo-etched parts and turned metal parts. The model was finished with Tamiya and Gunze paints. The weathering was done with mainly MIG pigments mixed with PVA and water to make a thick paste. I think I may have overdone the weathering a little. I painted the road wheels individually and now they can barely be seen!!!

Very nice! The pictures are a little dark, but I have photography issues myself. :-) I know you used Tamiya and Gunze paints, but what specific paint color or combination did you use for the overall panzer gray? I don't think the weathering is overdone at all; I especially like what you did on the lower hull. Did you use pre-/post-shading or washes - it's difficult to tell from the photos. Is that paint chipping on the turret around the number? Can we get another shot that shows the engine detail?
Great job!

It looks great! Congrats!
Just two small comments, I hope you don't mind: you attached smoke grenade launchers backwards - they should point towards the front of the tank. The second mistake is that you attached the commander's cupola at wrong angle - the hatch should open to the right front of the tank, not to the back.

I think the quantity of weathering is fine. Yea it's a bummer when weathering covers up lots of hard work.
I'd like to ask for more, the weathering looks like it stops a bit to abruptly at the hull side tops and it doesn't look as if there is quite enough on the deck.
Could be the photos so you ultimately have to decide.
Nice overall job. I do like the weathering.

I used Gunze Field Grey (1) for the main colour and then I lightened that with Tamiya light brown (I can't remember exactly which paint I used). I am not the kind of modeller who goes for accuracy, more for the enjoyment of modelling I did wonder if I had attached the smoke grenade launchers correctly!!

Great looking model. I am jealouse however as i have just finished school and none of my models look that good. :-) For the mud effect did u add any other osrt of material like backing soda as the mud un the tracks looks quite bulky! I ask as i wish to apply mud to my u-coming model and dont know whow to make the stuff! Your look is exactly what i am looking for!
Good model!

Thats a very good looking Tiger well done. BUT.Is there any way of taking the grenade launchers off and putting them on the rightway?also carnt understand why you have the drivers hatch open, but the loaders hatch and commanders hatch are in the closed position i know you said you only build for the fun but part of the fun is getting it right.
Just be a bit more careful when reading the instructions that way you will have less critisism, and less critisism means better models.
Cheers karl

Hi,
That's a nice build, but I also echo the nitpicks previously given. I also don't think you overdid the weathering, in fact I like the mud effect on the tracks.
Some of my nitpicks if you don't mind:
1) You either forgot to paint the tracks or intentionally did not paint them. The grey styrene color is still showing especially in the insides. Just fix them and then post an update.
2) Some of the paint chips on the turret looks artificial in my opinion
3) Some of the rust effect on the turret looks out of place. Consider relocating them in corners where you think metal surfaces would have been damaged.
Overall, it looks very good
Cheers

I bought my Tiger on the 13th of May, It 's been 2 months, and i reach the final touch the tracks. I still can't master the trick.
As for your model, i thought the grey camou uses the other font for the numbers. Its the 100
