I am planning on building a dio of USMC at Chosin Resevoir with Tamiya's M-26, a burned out T-34, and DML's USMC at Chosin Resevoir figures. I have the M-26 and figures. What is the best T-34 model out there to get for the project? I am thinking about it being on its side with turret blown off and detailing turret interior. I will need one with good underside and back of road wheel details. Any ideas?

You need to find you a DML T34/85. There's even a "Chinese" version boxed as part of the Korean war series if I recall correctly.

The DML kit is very nice, has detailed underside, suspension and roadwheels. Plus nice tracks, all of the hatches on the vehicle are open so you can show it all off inside.

There's no interior detail though... you'll have to scratch or find one of the old Jaguar sets

Go the DML kit, the Tamiya T-34s are very inaccurate. There is a DML kit specific to the Korean War, that would make life very simple. It is also a nice kit that goes together well. If you want to look elsewhere, Italeri/Zvezda and RPM make 1945-46 versions of the T-34/85 that may be able to be used.

T-34 Complete Engine with Compartment (DML) and T-34 Complete Engine with Compartment , made by Jaguar

T-34/85 Model 1945 by Italeri/Zvezda
T-34/85 Model 1944 by Zvezda

T-34-85 Medium Tank "Rudy" by RPM

Soviet tank T-34 Transmission set for Tamiya kit by CMK. Whilst for Tamiya it could be used in the DML kit

The T-34/85 in the Great Patriotic War by Brett Green using the DML kit (which whilst being built as a 1944 version will appy to yours)

Cheers,

DEFINATELY STAY AWAY FROM THE TAMIYA KITS! They are the old style with the motorization holes and battery compartment and are completely inaccurate.

If you can get the DML T-34/85 "Chinese version" that tankshack talked about, but if you can't find a DML T-34/85 go with either the Zvezda T-34/85 or the RPM/Maquette T-34/85 "Rudy" as both of those kits are pretty nice and can be converted to a Korean war version with only minimal effort.
