I seen a place where I can get the NIMIX 1/35 scale Patriot Missile System Radar & Shelter for a great price and was wondering if that Radar & Shelter are used only for the Patriot system or is it used for other things also.
Because I wanted to do a dio but to get all the Nimix 1/35 scale Patriot Missile Systems equipement is expensive. The Patriot System Radar and Missile Sytems Shelter are only $110 each with shipping.
I was going to mix and match the parts in dio's and the Radar and Shelter as the only ones not fixed to the dio. Like I would only do that if I went to a Show or a Magazine article if I ever did get into a Magazine article that is my dream to someday do that. But that would be the only times they would be in a dio. If there on my shelf they would be on there own dio base.

The Patriot uses the standard type shelter as seen on Italeri's M925 5-ton. It has some added boxes, antennas, and blisters on it, but is still a standard type shelter. You can see it here in the background in the below pic. The system is made up of 4 major components:
Radar with shelter truck in background (Edit: Basically the same as Marcel posted above, but on a more modern M900 series 5-ton truck, or a 5-ton MTV truck.)
Rocket launcher trailer.
Radar ,
Antenna masts
Thses components are not usually in close proximity. The shelter, radar, and antennas are used to control more than one launch unit. Usually, the launchers are spread out over a large area, a kilometer or more, and the shelter, radar, and antennas are centrally located. Also, all the radars are linked together to provide a picture of the whole theater of operations and provide early warning for Air Defense.
Here is a typical launcher layout.

I have seen the pull-behind-Hemmit-tractor shelter, but not used with the Patriot system. The E-tab section in my guard unit used a similar radar setup to the patriot, but used the massive pull-behind trailer instead of the more normal 900 series shelter. I think it was becasue we were short of shelter vehicles in the Division or some such. Anyhow, at least the real thing exists.
