Here's a shot of my current work in progress, "Winter's Road'. It depics a Russian armored car ambushed during the WInter War. The Finn is a conversion of a DML German ski trooper with a PPSh modified into a Suomi SMG, and a deceased Russian crewman who tried to make a run for it. The Russian has been built from Italeri and Tamiya figs.

Mika, I like what I see from the size of the pic. It's a little too small for me to get a detailed view.
Do you plan to add any more color to the scene? A small bush or tree? I think it could benefit from it.

What I'm planning as far as "irregularities" go, there's going to be either a rock or stump by the russian, and some snow covered foliage around, with a bit more height on the far side of the armored card.

Hej Madmeex.
Cool little dio. Showing the vehicle and using the vehicle as the "backdrop" is a good idea. I have a babit of making dios too big and then get fed up with them before they are finished.
The presentation here is very effective and as your not finished it will only be better!!
Good luck

Morjens and welcome Mika!
Looks like a nice little vignette. I have also found those German Ski Troopers handy for conversions. There are white metal Suomi SMGs available by Wiking Models, check Tieto-Nikkari for those. They cost 4,5e/2pcs. Also if you ever need "Pystykorva" Mosin-Nagants, they´re available in Combat Models, made by Model Kasten.
Just planning myself a big dio about the "motti" and the most difficult thing is to find good figures to be converted to Finns...there is a lack of Russian troops in the market as well...
Nice to see more snowy Finnish subjects here at Armorama!
Good luck with your project!

I'll definitely have to start working on a winter dio someday...
It's true that you should post bigger pictures Here we only have a vagye idea of how your figures are painted...

The figure is only vaguely painted. The flesh areas have the base color, primer is still exposed... but most important, the winter camo is what has me stumped. I'm looking through my books for pictures soldiers in snow camo before I continue painting him...

Well... if you can make it to Paris, there's a great shop BLAST MODELS , where there will be a demonstration of winter camo painting in three or four weeks... (:-)

I like your choice of subject, and look forward to seeing more as you progress.
