Hi, I once posted a thread about antennas for humvees and m1s, but I can t find my thread again nor the measurments that I wrote down.
I checked some archives here and on missing lynx.
I need the antenna measurments for humvees , bradleys , abrams, paladinds, command humvees, and LAVs.
I found out the measurments for the abrams and the humvees
1) ABRAMS ANTENNA measurments : 2 1/2 inch, and then _I saw this pciture here https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/670
those antennas on this abrams aren they too long ?????? you see pictures of abrams with long and then with short antennas.
2) Humvee antenna : 72mm (1:35), just posted in the previous threat, correct?
Check this pciture above , how long are those ones in real inches? I can convert the rest myself into 1:35
The Command Humvee, how long are his antennas?
3) Bradley : two antennas on turret : 2 1/2 inches in 1/35 scale. correct?
4) LAV : don t know
5) PAladin : don t know
I did research the internet for the antenna measurements before I posted here, so don t think I was too lazy to search myself the measurments
I just got confused several times when i saw Abrams and bradleys where antennas were once very tall, then i saw models where the antennas were very short.
I hope I did not bother too much with those questions, but the information is quite vital for my models , else i can really go on with modeling if i don t have this information

There are two types of antennas currently in use.
The short one is a thin metal antenna and is about 4 feet long. It is also very skinny.
Thin, short antennas on the below M1A1:
The longer, more common one is made of fiberglass over a copper core. It is thicker and made up of two, 3 feet (1 meter) long sections.
Standard antennas on the below M1A2:
It is the antenna in the above picture of all the HMMWVs as well. It looks different lengths due to the location of the mounting base, some are mounted higher or lower than the others. They are all a standard length though. All US AFVs use these types of antennas.
And yes, the antennas on the M1A1 in the link you posted are way too long.

The long version is 6 feet long, two 3 foot sections put together. Yes, either version can be used on all US vehicles; Bradleys, Abrams, AAVP-7s, M113s, LAVs, HMMWVs, etc., etc.

They are actually sleeping mats. It is just an easy way to store them, and get at them when needed. Nothing more. All you have to do is slide them over the antenna and then slide them off when needed.
