Hi All,
I'm wondering what Aztec nozzles people use the most and for what purpose. I bought an A470 set some time ago and still haven't used some nozzles (ie spatter). I'm fairly new to the world of airbrushing so am not quite at a stage of knowing which nozzles to use for certain aplications. There seem to be alot of general purpose nozzles of differing sizes which helps in this confusion.
Also, can it be assumed that a Tan Fine Line .30mm Nozzle will produce finer line results than a Yellow Fine Line 1.02mm Nozzle?? I know there are other factors at play here but I'm wondering if the size difference is a good gauge of what will be finest.
Cheers all...Happy Modeling
Matt

Matt,
I have an old Testors AB, before they were Aztec and the only nozzle I use is the tan one. I had some decent luck getting fine lines with the tan nozzle, and get good coverage with it too.
HTH,
Shaun

Hey there Matt,
I have the Aztek 4709, I bought it used, so it came with a few more nozzels than the base kit has, but so far I have only used maybe 2.
Mostly the tan one....as I can get some pretty fine lines, as well it will do wider patterns as well....and I think I have tried the grey and the black....both of which I find there isn't much difference....mostly I just used it for a filter coat, or if I am spraying a base coat.
I did use the red one for something...this is the only one that doesn;t have a metal needle in it....but for the life of me, I don't know what I used it for.
But for general use...I got with the tan nozzel, and the various size color cups...depending on how much paint I need mixed up.
Hope this helps

Hi Matt!
I use the black nozzle 90% of the time and sometimes the tan one... this means I still don't know the real difference between the four others! And this despite the fact that I have my Aztek set since more than a year now!
I think the only way to know is make some experiences with each nozzle. Try to spray various kind of paint (acrylic, enamels etc...) thinned differently to see the results by yourself!
The result will also depend on the compressor used and even on the quality of the air around (humidity).
By the way, didn't you received the instructions with your airbrush? There is a detailed explanation for each nozzle in it! if you don't have it, I can scan it for you if you want...

Thanks all for your replies. The tan nozzle is the most used one for me so far. it seems funny that so much has gone into the various different nozzles that not many of us notice the difference between some of them. My problem was that i'd misplaced my manual so couldn't remember which one to use for what application (thanks for the offer Jean Luc but I found it late today). I've compiled a list of the different nozzles and stuck the list to my airbrush case (very handy tip imho).
Thanks again all.... I now know that i'm on the right track.

Mostly use the black nozzle for general spraying in acrylics. The tan nozzle for fine detail work and the grey nozzle for enamels. I will use the spatter nozzle one day (when i find a use for it) :-)
