I was thinking about this for awhile and talking to a friend of mine about the kill markings on the main gun like that of the tigers and king tigers, did they have these kill markings?

on which of the many type of panzer iv''',jagdpanzer or panzerkampfwagen ......and such ,do you have a type in mind.but i assume they did as it was a choice of the crew wich painted them on themselves i believe.

I believe that Kill markings were denoted with white bands around the base of the gun tube by the mantlet. these can be seen on some 88's as well

Well, why not?
Those kill markings were made by the crews, they weren't official rewards, so if a crew had a respectably number of kills and got a bucktet of white paint and a brush in their hands (and some free time) , why wouldn't they paint some kill-markings to their barrel?

I just received Perrett's Panzerkampfwagen IV (New Vanguard # 28, Osprey) and the cutaway diagram/cover depicts a Panzer IV Ausf H with the white kill marking stripes on the cannon close to the muzzle break. I could not find any photographs in this book or my others showing these markings only this painting.

Hope this helps.

Rarely done on a tank. Some of the antitank gun crews did this as it was what the Anti-aircraft crews did for airplanes. There was a publicity shot of Michael Wittmans Tiger which had them painted on, but I believe that was only for a foto op.

I think you mean this photo:

After looking through several pages of tank photos, that's the only one I found with kill markings.
