I am currently working on Michael Roberts 130mm Celt, and want to make my own base for it. However, I am having trouble coming up with good groundwork ideas for it. I would like to set it in Britain in the 1st Century AD, so does anyone have any ideas or does anyone have good pictures of bases? I have been looking for reference pictures, but have yet to find any good ones. Your responses are appreciated.

A suitable scene would probably be grey, granite-type rock surrounded by a mossy/heathery ground. Some small roots make good small shrub-like growths. Use dried moss, cut up for ground-work instead of static grass or mix it in with static grass. The earth should be a black-brown colour and wet (glossy).
Anything typical of the highlands in scotland would be suitable.
This photo belongs to (Armorama member) Arthur, and is a perfect example.
Hope this puts youonthe right track anyway!

back then England was the green and pleasant land so it'll be nothing but the purest, harshest weather beaten highlands for a celt !
I'd look for some scottish scenery photos for reference, or welsh mountains. They're not only breathtaking views but usually unmolested by modern man.
