I've seen various references to Printers Ink in various SBS's and in various colours - most notably black and silver. I've asked around in art stores for it but generally get a blank stare or get directed to the calligraphy inks... It's highly likely that's it's refered to something else here in SA... but on Saturday I saw a few bottles of the Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks on a shelf...
The question is simply... is the W&S Drawing Ink what's known as Printers Ink?

Printers inks and artists inks are very different. Printers inks almost look like a sludge, it is very thick. It is what is used to print on paper from a printing press and is usually thinned with alchol or water depending upon the printing shop and where they are on their technology, old being thinned with alcohol the newer press and inks only require water. Drawing inks are just that. used for drawing or painting. What is your project and what are your intentions, maybe I can help. I am in the printing business. If it is printers inks you desire, you might want to run by a printer and see in you can aquire some. If I can help you let me know.
By the way either can prove very useful with dioramas and even used on models successfully.

Well there are two things you can try, See if a printing company in your area can spare you some. A tiny bit will go a long way. Another couple of tricks I have used with good results. A silver colored pencil, or a silver pen which you should be able to find at an art store or stationary store. If you can't find either of those things let me know I will see what I can do.
