Hi everyone,

I'm starting a 1/35 dio of an UH-1D troop carrier droping into a hot LZ and a UH-1C GUNSHIP over head giving cover fire need help on how to place my hueys. I'm up for suggestion on the hole thing.

Thanks,
PFC

The 'overhead' thing is a problem, that is unless your aim is to create a really big dio.

cfbush had a great idea for you (on another thread). Use forced perspective if that's what you really want to do.

Tread.

P.S. If you want other ideas, the group can help you there too I'm sure.

As an helicopter wouldn't fly just above an other one, I think that Tread has given a great idea : forced perspective ! That means that your gunship would have to be in 1/48th or 1/72nd, so that it seems to be further away !

A 1/72 helo pulling out after it's run flying away from the main action would also allow you to put in smoke/explosions/craters in the mid-ground to help force the perspective.

Other ideas might include using the Accurate Miniatures made 1/100 Vietnam era Cobra or Roco made one in 1/87 if you wanted to force the perspective even further.

Or you could use a 1/72 OH6 nosing around the far side of the LZ.

If you used smaller ships in the background, that way the D model could be front and center, maybe even just with the front of the skids touching the ground (not fully landed) and the troops deploying.

Just thinking at the keyboard.. I don't have space to build dio's these days..

I like the idea of a LOACH in the background there MLD. Building it in my mind, it would be a little easier to do, and a bit more believable (in forced perspective) having the ship in the background, than overhead...........at least to me, but what do I know, I'm from Mars, and everyone knows the smarter gender are from Venus!
