Hey lads.
Would anyone have some pics or know of their whereabouts regarding post D-Day M4A1with half-removed deep wading trunks? I have one, in the Zaloga book 'US Tank battles in France' (p.6) but I would like more close-ups of the actual attachment points for the trunks...
Oh, and another thing, because I want the trunks shown half-removed could the 'mesh' that came with the italeri marines sherman be used in the remaining sections of the trunks? Please help!!

Hi,

From tanks at ETO I haven't find to much but, at Hard Corps Models they have some photos of Shermans used in the Pacific Campaign with complete trunks and half ones.

As far as I discovered the mesh is placed at the connection between the upper and the lower part of the trunk.

Thankyou Jose
Had another thought though- Would you see a M4 with trunks half removed only after coming off the beach? It seems in other pics that the trunks are fully removed during the push inland... would this be right?

Hi,

I haven't conclusive data but by a educated guess I'ld say that they will take out the upper part of the trunks as soon as possible, because they prevent the turret from turning all around.

The lower part has to be removed to access the engine compartment for maintenance or repairs and so it will not took too long to be taken out also - perhaps two or three days.
