After finishing the sdkfz 222 I thought I'd build this Blitz. The kit is rather good but with some flash, wich in the thiny parts is an headache to trim off... You have to remove the stowage boxes on the side as they are the post war type. I still have to build a pair of replacements. The cabin part's breakdown isn't really helpfull when it comes to install the windows (the kit doesnt have any). I was really carefull while building it and all turned out nice and clean but they got fogged when I used acetone to retouch the tamiya putty They look dirty and there's no way back..I'll have to live with it and try my best next time. I chose not to put the kit's canvas on so I added some cargo and covered it with a small piece of canvas also. I used copper wire for the wire structure of the real thing by looking at some fotos in the gallery. I'll post some progress later

Happy modelling

Nice job so far, Francisco. You've got some nice touches added. Looks like a decent kit , the detail is qute good considering the scale, (the split side windows are not even on the 1/35 scale hmmm ) Although that shovel handle looks like about 4 times to big. What do the rims and wheel look like? ( I seem to remember seeing the rims at this scale were awful, hopefully that was on a different kit)
I Look forward to seeing this finished

Well, the wheels look too thin in my opinion but it's just a matter of adding some detail elsewhere just to keep your eyes away from them :-) It's now ready for painting but after I took these pictures I added some more tamiya putty mixed with some bristles from an old brush, the headlights and the rear view mirror.

Francisco, this is really coming along. Nice job on the mud. Sorry I didn't notice this before (probably to late now) but you have the frames for the canvas in the wrong spots. They actually slide into tubes on the side of the box (these are represented on the model but they to are also in the wrong spot)

Still a great looking truck , and I look forward to seeing more pics

Yes, it is the Airfix moulding (same as the Churchill that Heller have out at the moment).

Originally it also came with a Pak 40 and crew.

Here is my progress on the Opel. I washed it with oils and drybrushed it with white oil also. I decided to do a small base for it: I used a coffee jar lid, a bit of styrofoam, tea leaves for the bushes and wall spakle! It's ready for painting and I think its a good adition to my model.
Thanks a lot for the heads-up about the frames! It's a massive error though..I never payed atention to it :

Actually the frames are correct because it depends on the kind of cargo-bay but I should have removed the other fixations! What a laugh.. :-)

Sorry mate but both you and the pic of the model from ML are wrong! The hood bow itself fits into the tube which is not on the main support but beside it on all bodies. You can see this clearly on the one in the second picture.

removing the fittings from your body side only compounds the error!

cheers

At the very least Francisco, you've done a great job of this Opel, it turned out great, very realistic looking. The mud really give life to this beast.

Bruce

Edit : I wonder if Heller had this type of box extenders in mind, seems to fit the model a little closer? hmmm.
To bad photos of the Blitz are far to precious.

Thank you all for you kind comments

It looks like your correct Slug:

(take a look at the fittings for the frame, right aside the main support)

I still have my doubts about the position of the fittings, not tthat I'm trying to cover my error, I'm just curious about the vehicle characteristics! It looks to me like it all depends on the type of body and maybe there were even small field modifications to it..Looks at this next picture, it really looks like the frame connects to a tube in the main support on the sides:
