Would it be the same color as the exterior ( Panzer Grey, Dark Tan, etc) or would they have used a lighter color lie panzer buff? I have a DML sitting on my work bench, and one of my references from a museum in Europe had the drivers' are in light buff, and the rest of the interior panzer grey. Any thoughts on this??
It should be in the same color as the exterior of the vehicle. However, if the vehicle received a new paint job in the field, it may have a different interior color. An example would be a vehicle that arrived in N. Africa in Panzer Grey and was repainted in one of the African yellow colors.
As far as I know, all interiors of open vehicles were painted in the same exterior color, including driver's compartments as long as they were also open. Exceptions being, DAK vehicles originally in Pz Gray and the exteriors repainted sand or brown; and early- to mid-1943 when exterior base color changed from gray to drk. yellow. Only exteriors were repainted (if at all), and interiors remained as original.
