This is the Verlinden 10 inch seacoast mortar in 54 mm scale. It comes with the base as seen with accessories. I used S&Ts Union artillery officer with a Shenandoah head wearing a Hardee hat. The trooper is from an unknown source. His head had to be replaced when I noticed one ear was very deformed. I added a cigar to disguise a slightly malformed mouth. The snow is Hudson and Allen slush and the dead grass is from 3 Guys Hobbies of Buffalo.

Looks good Al. I'm with John, can we see some more (from the front) pic's?
I have one question, should the powder pan on the Mortar have a hole drilled out, or does the pic not show it?
Cheers
Henk

I love Civil War stuff. Too bad there isn't a larger variety.

You did a very nice job on this dio. The ground work and weathering is nicely done. And It's not a subject seen too often on this site. I do have a few minor nit pics though. The shadowing on the Officers coat is a little too dark, and it looks like the inside of his holster wasn't painted. Overall, good job. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe. But the navy blue serge of Union uniforms give very little light.

Definitely a trick of the camera here, I double checked to be sure, at my age, things do get forgotten. :-) The inner surface of the flap is llight brown to show unfinished leather and what you're likely seeing is the higher gloss of the metal between the grips in his pistol which are dark brown.
Thanks for the comments. Fresh eyes are always good.

Very, very nice Al! (As usual!) The more CW mortars I see, the more I'm likin' 'em!
If interested (and with your permission), I'd like to post a photo of that here. Either the 3rd or the 4th ones down on your second batch as I can't decide which one, would be just great. If you have an off-armorama location to the rest of the photos, I'd like to provide a link to there as well.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
I figured you'd be caught by the "mortar" in the title. :-) Fell free to copy the pics as long as credit is given. If need be, I can e-mail you the picture you want.
