A few days ago I received Alex Clark's new book "Modeling the Panzer IV in 1/72 Scale" (Osprey Modeling #17). I focus mostly on modern armor but I have a fondness for the Jagdpanzer IV. That together with my admiration for the outstanding work of Alex Clark prompted me to purchase this book. There is a detailed review of the book by Mark Smith here on Armorama. About the only comment I can add is "buy this book". The large, well done photographs are accompanied with Alex's easy going, informative writing style. You will learn a lot without being bogged down with lengthy technical commentary. Lots of good information here on every thing from basic tool needs to scratch building and casting your own resin parts. If you are new to small scale or have several years experience you will benefit from this book. It will get the creative juices flowing. Within three days of buying and reading the book I have started a Revell Ausf. H, a Dragon Stug. and am in the middle of a Dragon/Hasagawa Jagdpanzer IV/70 kit bash.

Note: I do not know Alex personally nor do I have any connection with Osprey.

Cheers,
KI...

i looked forward to the release of this book and bought it right away when it came out.
i am a braille scale modeller and a fan of his works...have also seen some of them in person during euro militaire, astounding stuff!
i really like this book and would love to see more stuff from him in the future...

the quality of the modelling is topnotch and in-progress shots are very informative...my only nitpick is that a lot of the in-progress shots are quite small, i would like to have seen more close-ups of the detail rather than the whole tank in every shot...and some of the in-progress shots are over exposed...so you can't clearly see the detail when it's white styrene on white styrene...

the photos of finished models are quite excellent though...

overall i would definitely recommend this book to braille scale modelers!
