KFMagee, thank you !
I know that some of us may sound a bit critical at some times, but that's because you're spoiling us with such a well drawn concept ! I'm realy enthousiastic about your organisation !

I'll be using a picture frame as a base for the dio. So now comes the stupid question : should the inside of the frame be 4 x 6 inches or the outside of it ?

we picked a size (4x6), period (WWII), limitation (single figure) and an arbitrary feature (window) to compltee our set of criteria.

I still think the majority of folks (75-80% from what I see!) will be doing the original Sniper concept, .../...

Keith,
Fair enough. I agree this will attract extra "players".

Would it be wrong to suggest the following :

xx--xx--xx--xx--xx EXTRA CHALLENGE FOR MASSOCHIST MODELERS xx--xx--xx--xx

If other people want to stick to the original challenge, I would invite them to go for the same basic rules (.4x6, WWII, Window, single figure), and make it more interesting by adding the further conditions : (Winter + Sniper). No extra prizes, no extra ribbons. Just making life a bit more miserable to ourselves. And those who want to depict Gen. Rommel in bathing suit ready to take a dip in a (4x6") oasis, they still are free to do so ?!

Just a naughty idea... That's why this is haloween !

What about Rommel in his bathing suit joining the typical Dutch New Years Day - dive in the North Sea......

LOL ! Danny, When I was in my early twenties, I went skinnydipping in the North See on X-mas day in Blankenberge, and the water was so cold that I was out of the water in less than no time. Just long enough to make me win a bet (crate of beer - that's what Belgian students do), but you won't catch me doing that again. I still get chills when I think of it. Then again, a few coeds joined in with us (all dressed the same), and maybe that's what gave me the goosepimples

I had the idea, got the items I needed, set it all out and WHACK! another better idea came into my head. I really like the new idea as well. The thing is I need to order or kitbash for the figure and scratch build the scene for the new one, whereas I have already the items for my first idea. What a mess. The best solution I have for now is to build both and enter the one I think is best!
I have small base picture frames. But they are slighly larger than 6 x 4 inches(150mm x 100mm). They are 170mm x 115mm. Can I use these and have the allowed dio size inside this allowed area with none of the dio overlapping onto the excess area. This area would be painted or stained only. Would this be allowed?

Sorry for you Plasticbattle ! I've already asked the same question about the size and KFMagee told me that the outside of the base should not be more than 4x6.

Hola Eagle!

Those blocks come periodically and can last a week or last a year. I just came back from one of those not too long ago

Anders,

yeah you're right, but this contest came at the right time. I'm gonna spice things up a little and throw it all I've got in this dio.

I've got some great ideas for this one...... I'm gonna go back to the drawingboard to think things over and work them out now.... This will be fun !

A block hit me at the worst time... I'll have missed the group A/C build deadline because of it... I'm convinced that the best way to overcome a block is to do something different.

KFMagee, could you elaborate on the money restrictions for the contest a little more? Since I bought the figure for the dio, I know that takes $7 away from my funds... If I use some kitty ltter for gravel, do I need to deduct some for that? If you can clear this up a bit, I'd appreciate it!

::EDIT:: never mind... just read the updated rules! You're waaayy ahead of me!

Hey all,

I've got a base I made at work from a piece of scrap wood, one figure from the spares box and I'm gonna scratchbuild everything else. Do I have to bill for my time? I'm worth at least $50.00 an hour so I'm already over budget...

LOL

Jim,
Could we have something on the home page that covers the dio issue ? Maybe a banner/button/countdown clock/teaser... ?
there's still seven weeks of building time, so this is still a good moment for late starters !
Why don't we all drop a word or two on other forums to invite modelers to jump in, too ?

That's a nice buste (is it JC ? ), but I don't understand the connection to the dio contest. ?
You may have meant to send another picture, or not ?
