Hi KenC - The 70th had 2 companies of DD Tanks, and 1 company of
normal M4's fitted with " wading trunks " including 4 dozer tanks.
Also, 9 tanks were lost in the water after coming off the LCT's ( 5 DD & 4 Wading )

Thanks scream! I think that answered all of my curiosity of the 70th on that fatefull day! :-)

Memory fading....two weeks after my birthday and my eyes and mind both go. After looking at my Concord book by Steven Zaloga, there are pictures of 70th Bn DD Sherman's coming ashore. I was looking at the color illustrations of the various tanks and the only 70th Bn tank was the wading one, the DD tank was a 2AD one (66th AR) that was done up as an illustration. Made an incorrect assuption.

Age? Age causes memory to fade? Are you sure it's not the fumes from some of the stuff used in modelbuilding? I'm not that old and my memory is as good as... is good as... um, I forgot. Oh, well...
