Hello everyone,
When I saw this photo first time, it struck my heart: It depictures so much sadness and cruelty. A helplessly suffering horse and a lonely Panther in the same mud (hope link will work).
I decided to build a dio of that (according to Keith Maggee´s favorite phrase). Converting Verlinden´s death horse by neck and head of a tamiya-horse and displaying Dragon´s Panther A early, I) set up the layout of that dio. Don´t know if the one on the photo in the end is an A late, but the Dragon Panther builds up so nicely, that I like it for this scenery.
Hope that You like it. By the way: I used Tamiya´s tank comander, who is waiting yet for a "sad Verlinden head" to come. Any other idea?
In case that links won´t work, try this one:

Ten points for the subject Ralf!
Very personal and heart-aching scene. I bet nobody will accuse you for being a war-enthusiast!
How about using a very low-saturated grey-brownish palette for this dio (like the colours had been washed off)? I think it would fit the theme well...
Have a nice build and keep us updated, this looks interesting!

Exactly what I planned to do: Washed out colours, varying different shades of grey-brown, according to the "tristesse" of the subject. Has anyone of You got a good idea for a title of that dio........?

I have seen that picture before and it really left an impression. I never thought of doing a dio of it although I should have. It has a good message about the helpless victims of war.

Thank You guys for Your great support!
The photo I found surfing the web on

What an enormous inspiration is www. (armorama above all).
Ah, "misery in mud", that sounds great to me: exactly the key of that story.
I´ll keep You informed.

Great dio idea and great work converting the horse. Should be brilliant when finished.
Another title idea I had was " nothing gets by". Meaning something like the elements have the last say no matter how big (the panther) or small.
"Road to nowhere" could be used also.

Just a thought, perhaps you could use real soil of slightly varying colours mixed with JOHNSONS FUTURE (floor polish) to create the mud. I have used this many times with great results.
Brilliant picture although a touch sad. I guess the guys in the tank and on foot didn't go hungry that night.

Seen many pictures that illustrated sadness of the war, with dead soldiers and all, the one with dead or wounded soldiers are sad, but does not have as much as an impact with wounded or dead animals, horses, dogs, etc. I always have a soft spot for animals....
Great idea!
