Hi, I“m planning of converting my old Tamiya Midproduction Tiger I to a funklenk version - the Borgvard IV should arrive in the post in a few weeks.

I have found two pictures of a funklenk tiger i "tigers in combat I" that shows the extra antenna to be fitted on the right side of the turret between the visionport and the lifting point.

The pictures are unfortunately blurred, an my question is:

1) Does anybody have a clear photo of the extra antennamount ?

and:

2) Does anybody know of cases where the antenna was fittet elseware on tiger ?

Cheers/Mox

Well there is the Panzerbefhelswagen (command tank) In the case of the Tiger, it had 3 antennas

here is a tigerbefehlswagen
BTW, that is not my model, just using it as an example

There's a Befehlswagen conversion kit available from Tiger Model Design for $15. It includes the carrying tube which mounts on the back of the tank. Here are some pics...and a link....

At least it gives you an idea of where things are located in case you want to build your own.

Or...it's included in the new Dragon Late Tiger kit (6253)....

You could splurge on the Dragon kit and use the antennas on the Tamiya...

Thanks mates, but i“m not sure that the antennaconfiguration on befehlstigers and funklenk tigers is the same.

The pictures i have found show a extra antenna mounted on the side of the turret and not on the deck.

What pages are you looking at? I don't see anything in the Funklenk sections.

sPzAbt. 504, sPzABT.508, FKL (301), and FKL (316) all had these guidance Tigers. It seems all had the antennae on the r/h turret side except fkl(301) who had it on the l/h hull deck just to the rear of the coupla.

Well MrMox, now you're gonna make me get my reading glasses out. The two Funklenk sections are short and when a turret is shown, it's a pic of a Tiger II....so nothing there.

Nothing obvious jumps out at me in the 503 section. There is one pic on the top of page 165, which does look like an antenna where you've described it. It's of tank 332 and part of a series of shots where they're doing some recovery training. The picture shows three men attaching the tow cables to the front of the tank, which is buried in mud.

I took a pic of it so I could get a better look at things. I won't post the entire pic here, but here's a close up of the area in question...

Looks like two helmets and a loop of something, a belt or rope maybe, hung over the smoke discharger unit. There's a shadow of it on the turret side indicating it's shape. Anyway, that's what it looks like to me.

There's a pic of the back of the same tank on 163 and 164. They have something hanging on the left rear part of the turret too. Actually there's stuff scattered on the top of the turret and rear deck.

Definitely an interesting series of pictures but maybe not the ones you were talking about. If not, I guess we'll have to wait until you can retrieve the book from your dad.

Take care.

Hi Tigertankman...

To do a link just takes a little modified HTML using brackets around URL before the address and a bracketed /URL after it.

In regular HTML you'd use angle brackets < and >, but on this and many forums those could scramble pages, so square brackets, [ and ], are used instead.

There's a FAQ about the Forum. It includes tips on HTML usage. Look up above the messages for a dark gray bar with "ACTIONS: -->LATEST POSTS -->FORUM FAQ (that's it!) -->IMAGE HELP

Here's the link to the HTML section...

Nice sig line by the way.

look at page 328 of the paperback version of TIC 1 (page 383 hardback). The bottom pic shows the antenae on the turret side clearly.
Also on page 28 (top)softback and page24 hardback.
