whilst going thru the concord publication 'British Tanks of WW2',volume2, there are 2 pics of shermans of 4th Armoured Battalion Coldstream Guards, followed by a captured Panther. The author says it was nicknamed 'Cuckoo',the photo of it in action shows a large Allied star painted on the turret side.Does anyone know of any more info such as whether it was a 'D','A' or 'G',zimmerit, paintjob or anything else of use?
I thought it would make a change from the usual Cromwells or Shermans

if you do a search on the Internet, there is a website whose address eludes me, that is about that captured panther.

Here's a site for you, http://www.twenot.nl/cuckoo.htm

One more thing, from the side view it is definitly an Ausf G but I'm not sure if it is and early or late production G.

There is an article in AFV modeler on building this particular vehicle. I do not remember which issue.

But I'm leaving to go hiking as soon as the coffee kicks in and the 6yr old gets his shoes on.
I believe their website lets you search and download individual articles for about one pound per article..

I'll find the specific issue and post it later today if no one else gets there first.

I'm 99% certain that Cuckoo is an early Panther G, it's one on my list of projects to do when I can find the correct pattern zimmerit for it. If you got here

British Pathe

and look for these pics

1976.03 | (TANKS) (1:09:59:00 - 1:14:10:00)

or type into the search function (I kid you not) "Captured german Tiger Tank" you will find a lot more pics of "Cuckoo"

Pete

PS If anyone can come up with info on a captured Panther called " Deserter" in Italy I'd be very appreciative,
