I'm not sure if this qualifies as a diorama since it's just a base with sand and rock included. I finally finished this up after 4 months of waiting for various items to include, and photo problems.

This is the 3rd go round on the photos. In the first 2, the actual problems I found were in my workmanship, and noticing things I forgot or were not correctly done.

I'm sure you'll be able to see thing I have missed again, but my eyes are really going blurry at studing this pics.

Let me know if you see anything.

To look at all my photos just hit the "My Photos" Button below.

These are just the overview, Closeups in my gallery.

Thanks for looking,
Bob

That sure is a Diorama if there's a story for it..

Looking good kilntime.. maybe you might want to add a little bit of vegetation on the base... oh.. and try weathering the wheels Dust the vehicles.. since it's in the desert.

Very nice job, weathering is excellent but you ve missed the wheels. My question is the artillery piece mounted on a Matilda chassis what is it never sauw it , not an expert on the North African theater but i am curious

I like it... but then again the North African campaign is my favourite WW2 subject...

Who makes the Bishop? The commander: is that the one from the Tamiya 25pnd field gun kit?

I really like the tarps. Excellent idea. what about a tarp over the muzzles of the guns though... sand and stone has this annoying habit of getting everywhere... especially down gun barrels!

I like your use of the Tamiya Infantry on partol set, my only nit-pick is the uniforms... they are wearing BD's wereeas the norm in the desert was KD's... as I said.. it's a nit-pick and something that the casual observer is definitely NOT going to notice! :-) :-)

Regading your base... I disagree with the vegetation comment... I do however agree with the dust comment... add some... in fact add lots! :-) also, consider adding baked sand/clay/mud to the base... the north african desert is either hard sand with tonnes of rocks, or dunes... either way... in Africa there is always dust... wherever you are... take my word for it! :-)

Once again... love the subject! Love the dio!

Rudi

p.s. if you're interested in the Med campaign, stay tuned! We'll be having a Med campaign next year - hopefully

It's a 25pdr on a Valentine chassis, not Matilda. The only kit I know of this is the old DML/Dragon/Maquette/Azimuth kit, been around a bit those moulds!!

Overall a good model, but really does need the dust!

Yup, the Bishop SPG used the Valentine chassis with the 25 pnd Mk 1 howitzer.

Dave:
Don't Alan also do a Bishop? I'm sure I read something about that in a thread posted here within the last few days...

I really like that simple little set up. I know the base was just a quicky but some tire tracks would help too.

Yep, same mould though; just a different name on the box!

Thanks a lot guys, I sure learned a lot from this one.
I added more dust, what do you think?

:-) :-) :-)
I really tried to dirty it up a bit. I will go back and add more dust, exp on the wheels.

It is a Bishop, it was from a Russian company, the directions were in Russian and I had to kind of guess my way through. PIOTR or something like that. I no longer have the box and that looks like the company name in the directions.

My next time big reminders watch the uniforms, markings and add more dust.

Commandpost, could you direct me somewhere that shows that tarp for the 25pdr?
And I'll sure double check my markings.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys; you don't know how much you helped.

Bob

Nice dio kilntime, I think your base is very effective and well done.
