Did Iraq have any of these type of trucks in use in ODS or OIF? I want to do a dio with one of a GAZ 66 type of trucks with a US armour maybe a M2A2 or Humvee or a AAVP7A1 checking it out with some troops.

These are the type of trucks & field gun I was wondering if Iraq used them.

from Eastern Express that Alanger sells.

GAZ - 66V airborne truck
GAZ - 66 plain army truck
GAZ - 66 command post

I also seen a few things from ICM they also sell.

Did Iraq use this or had it also?

ICM MLRS BM -21 " Grad "
Or the ICM BS - 3 Flied Gun.

I know Iraq used the URAL 4320's but not sure if the GAZ - 66 were also exported.

Would any of the alangers figure sets fit a typical IRAQ solider besides the insurgents being used now to fight in OIF? Like maybe during ODS in 1991.

Alanger used to sell a truck with a anti-aircraft on it and can not find it do they still make that kit? Does anyone sell that kit besides alanger?

Happy Modeling

Iraq did use the GAZ 66 in both ODS and OIF. Also the BM-21. Don't know about the field gun though, I am inclined to say they did not. The BS-3 is a WWII design and the Iraqis used more modern equipment. They did have lots of D-30s and South African made guns.

I think the kit you are reffering to with the AA gun on the back is from Eastern Express.

GAZ-66 Flatbed with a ZSU-23-2 on the back....nice kit....wish I had one!! LOL

Consulting "The Lessons of Modern War: Volume IV", a massive "lesson's learned" of the Gulf War (ODS) shows Iraq as using Soviet made BM-21 MLRS, but the book mentions nothing about M1944 BS-3 100mm field guns in Iraqi service.

To elaborate on what HeavyArty mentioned, other arty pieces that Iraq had in ODS (and carried on to OIF) included:

- Brazilian SS-30 ASTROS 127mm MLRS (Iraq also copied this designating it Sajeel 30)
- Brazilian SS-40 ASTROS 180mm MLRS (Iraq also copied this designating it Sajeel 40)
- Brazilian SS-60 ASTROS 300mm (Iraq also copied this designating it Sajeel 60)
- Soviet 2S1 122mm SP
- Soviet D-30 122mm
- Soviet M1938 122mm
- Soviet M-1937 152mm
- Soviet 2S3 152mm SP
- Austrian GHN-45 155mm SP
- French-supplied GCT AUFF-1 155mm SP
- South African G-5 155mm SP
- US-supplied M-109A1/A2 155mm SP
- Iraqi Al-Faw 210mm
Also listed were towed tubes of 105mm,, 130mm, and 155mm caliber but designations for them were not listed.
