im new to this airbrushing thing, haved used this brush on 1 other model, and ended up painting too heavy, this time im using MM acrylics and thinning it with water, the problem is that when sprayed on the model, the water beads up leaving a runny mess and not covering to well, i tried spraying a thicker mix of paint, but same thing not sure what to do, any help would be appreceiated.
i read about thinning with alcahol, and will try this, but same paints and brush didnt produce these results on first model so...
thanks.

Welcome aboard Bender!
Definitly steer clear of using water to thin your paints! Yes, alcohol works good, along with the manufacture's thinner and even windshield washer fluid. Wash the model in something mild like dish detergent and warm water too. Let the model dry thoroughly. Paint away.

Like you, I also use an Aztec airbrush.

Have you tried using your paint straight from the bottle without thinning? Give it a try on some scrap plastic or an old model and see how that works.

Also, just out of curiousity, are you using an air compressor as your air supply source, and if so, what psi are you using when you paint?

Good luck as you experiment.

Bender, there is no set standard for psi. It depends on several factors. Paint consistency, type of paint, AB needle size, effect your after...
I usually spray between 12 thru 25 psi.

The Bender guy should be visible now...Futurama...

Thanks for your reply. I use 20-25 psi when I use acrylics. That range always works well for me.

Please consider running some of your paint through straight from the bottle at 20-25 psi and see what you get. Let me know as I'd be curious how you come out on this. Thanks.
