Have just found this forum and am very pleased to see it!
Am 43 yrs old and recently come back to modelling after a loooong break.
As an intro, here is a sample of my work. Am now working on a Sturmtiger diorama (it may include fibre optics!).
www.ww2modelmaker.com/articlepub/ktarticlebb/article.html
As this was my firt model in over a quarter century, I was asked to detail the construction process for other first timers. If you like it please
leave a comment at the link on the bottom of the page
thanks
Brian

Thanks guys
If you click the link in the thread there is a highly detailed article explaining all aspects of the build, with links to a Flash diary that I built to further detail some of the techniques used. Also there are lots more pics

Hi Brian,
First welcome .
Second let me echo what the others have said. If that's the first in twenty five years, looks as if I'll have many questions for you. I've been trying for about 3 years ( to make realistic models) and if I take that much time off I'll be almost 80
Haven't checked the link yet but it won't be long.
Joe

Looks like you'll be teaching us instead of us you. Your mud effects are most impressive. You have done an outstanding job of portraying very realistic looking weathering. The only thing I would suggest would be to make a base to display it or even go to the next step of adding figures and making a diorama.

Hello Brian,
Greetings from Kentucky USA and Welcome to Armorama! You've done a very nice job on that King TIger! You are light years ahead of where I was when I returned several years ago. You keep up this pace and I would wager that you'll be winning Gold at the European competitions. Congratulations again on a great looking model!
Best Wishes,
Walter

Thanks for all the great comments guys. I have just finished my first figure to go with the tank, and will shoot some pics this week. I have not yet decided on a diorama setting, but as I've never done one it has to be something simple . I might put my current project on hold, and concentrate on getting a dio done for the KT in time for Euro Militaire.

Welcome to the site Brian, have to take my hat off to you that is one great looking model, liked the articleto very helpful, I like the way you put it as a newbie far more easier to understand.
P.S. Re your article its a pity the model magazines dont take a tip from it, if they want our hobby to continue why dont they try to get new people and kids interested instead of articles by master modellers who are not in touch with the newbies. thanks brian Ive been modelling on and of for forty years yet I still found the article interesting and learnt a few things

Brian, welcome to the forum. I too am just getting back into the hobby after a 30 year break. I must say though that your first attempt at modeling far outclasses the first kit I cobbled together. Your work is excellent! The article you linked to was also very informative with some greats links. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to Armorama and back to a great hobby. You'll find that there is no better place to share experiences, ideas, techniques, and your work than here at Armorama. Everyone is fantastic about helping and giving all the support you can ask for.
Really a terrific job on the "big cat". Outstanding detail and weathering work. I'm very anxious to see the SturmTiger and diorama.
