Some of the best shadow box dioramas are in Shep Paine's "How To Build Dioramas" book......I see they have a newer version of it on the market....check it out at your local hobby shop if you don't have it....and well worth buying.

There are some neat ones in there, like a scene on board the HMS Victory during the Battle of Trafalgar, one inside the Alamo (with real lights I believe), one inside the turret of the Monitor, and one in the board room of the Admiralty in London, if I recall correctly. Most importantly, Paine describes how to do them, though I have not attempted one yet.
