Looks pretty amazing, John. Really like the entire look of the dio. And that StuG looks hot. Just a couple of things on the base itself: are you planning on putting anything on that sunken road? It looks a bit empty. Even if it's just some trash, it might help. Also, don't you think a few clumps/shoots of grass migh have survived in the tracks the StuG's sitting in. The grassy area and the bare area looks a bit too perfectly defined. Still looks marvelous, though!

Wow John, this is looking great! I can't wait to see it finished. I would never guess it's 1/48! No complaints from this guy, keep up the good work.

Its just getting better and better John, the fence is looking great and the flowers also make the whole dio look very realistic, the bird box is a nice touch also.

1/48 yes that IS 1/48 scale.
Can't wait for more. I really, really hope you decide to submit this as a feature - if nothing more than an OD. It would fit in Armor, Dioramas, or Figures!

A bird near the birdhouse would be a nice touch to it .

Thanks Kevin, David, Brian, Neil, Scott and Hilbert! I appreciated the time you took to post feedback.
Hilbert I love the bird idea - I will get on it tonite!
Kevin - I'm still waiting on my farm animals! I am told they are in the post - so soon!
David, the lower area will be the final resting place for a farm animal - cow, horse or pig - not sure yet as the kit has yet to arrive. It will also be a stream. I have done nothing to the whole front area except the earth and grass so far. More is definitly planned!
Scott - I will certainly take it into consideration, BTW what is an OD?
Cheers!

Feature on the way - great news
OD (when talking about features) is On Display (not Olive Drab

). It's an image only feature, no text.

Thanks Dave. The tall brown grass is horse hair, the short green grass is Silflor.

John the dio looks great, the idea Hilbert had about the bird should add some nice detail, besides that i wouldn't change a thing.

This looks fantastic, John. I am really impressed with your figures. It must take a lot of skill and talent getting 1:48 figures this good.

Hi John. Its really coming together now. Are those the figures from that we talked about earlier? The detail looks great for that scale .. and the painting is top notch. Ive seen quite a few pilot and ground crew figures in this scale before, and was amazed what is possible.
No nit-picks left :-)
The detail, that adds most now, IMO, is the telegraph pole .... it breaks up the constant height of stug, figures, fence, cart, etc. The post box and bird house are perfect little details as well. Im sure when the animal and stream details are added it will add to the above effect as well. Thanks for keeping us up to date ... its great to see dios in the making.

Looks good! Is the Stug built OTB, or is there PE involved? I couldn't tell. Tamiya could do modellers a favor and include a basic PE fret - maybe just the engine grills- for their whole line of 1/48. The baby piggies in Tamiya's 1/35 farmyard set would be just about the right size for adult pigs in 1/48.

Thanks guys - I appreciated the feedback.
Frank the standing figure is from Tamiya, the kneeling fig is Nimex.
Biggles, the tank is not ootb, the only PE used was from a left over 1/72 KV-1 Fret.

That is one great looking scene you have going on there..and to think it is in 1/48th also..just makes it all the better..I really can't wait to see this one finished..and i agree with Slodder on this one you should definately do at least an On Display of this one..

BTW...where did you get a 1/48th Farm Animal Set from??? I need one toooo..

When looking at the pictures I got the WOW feeling. Now that I know that this is done in 1/48 scale my feelings changed to the WOW WOW MAN mode. This is an excellent performance you've put up John.
I'm impressed big time. Besides the vehicle and the figure, I'm most impressed by your landscaping. The grass looks oh so real and the road and sandy area have that great dusty look..... an wonderful performance indeed.
Be sure to make plenty of pictures, because when it's done some editors will be asking you if they can add it into an On Display Feature (one small hint..... give them to the Dioramas Editors, they are the best :-) )
Now without kiddin'..... an excellent diorama. I love every inch of it !

Mary, if you're looking for farm animals you could check out this new set from Pegasus Hobbies,
http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=PH7006 , and don't forget all the items intended for O gauge railway modelling, for example those made by Preiser.
