Howdy folks! Been awhile I know, but I'm betting someone on my favorite website will be able to sort this out for me. As I was returning to NC from NY(USA) via Interstate 81, I chanced to notice an M4 of uncertain origin, but apparently well maintained, Just off of the highway south of exit 49 in the vicinity of Carlisle PA. I was risking losing my hotel reservation in MD, so I didn't stop to check it out, but risking a glance in the rearview I was stunned to see what appeared to be the muzzle of a Pak 40 confrtonting the M4 from a log bunker, with various oddments of fortification scattered about the field. I quickly checked my map & guide to PA attractions but came up nil. So the questions are:
Is this some sort of attraction, which may have other tasty bits to peruse?
Is it a memorial of some sort?
Exactly what model of Sherman is it?(Seemeed to have a long gun, with Muzzle brake, but that could be Amnestic disorder popping back up... )
Would it be worth planning a stop the next time I'm in the area?

So come on all you keystoners, give me some closure on this if you please!

(Oh, and for those interested, I'll soon be posting a walkaround of an M42 Duster I managed while in the vicinity of Camp Smith, NY. I here rumors of a plastic version to be released soon... )

Damn, but it's good to be back!

You were passing by Carlisle Barracks which is where the US Army War College is located. The Sherman and Pak you saw are part of the Army Heritage Trail. There is a M4A3(75)Dry along with a 8.8cm Pak 43/41 there. Nearby is a National Guard post with a M4A3(76)HVSS.

I don't know anything about any fortifications like you describe. The pics of the 8.8cm Pak 43/41 show it out in the open. Maybe there's something near the M4A3(76)HVSS that's not in the pics I have.

These are not technically at Carlisle Barracks or AWC, but at the new Army History and Education Center. (It's AHEC, anyway.) They are making some sort of 1:1 diorama park or something.
