Vietnam dio scenario help
Posted: Wednesday, August 17, 2005 - 02:43 PM UTC
Im in the process of getting all the kits I need together for a Nam dio. But before I go any further I wanted to explain my scene Im going portray. Im going to have an M35A2 towing a 105mm howitzer. They have incountered mines in the road and called in some engineers to clear the road. My question is when in a situation like this would they likely have to have troops there for perimiter security. Im not going to have intire convoy scene just this scenario. I dont have a picture to go by but Im sure this kind of thing probably happened often. I would like to here your thoughts and suggestion.

Yes, there would be soldiers around the vehicle for security. You would never leave a vehicle unsecured, by itself on the road. You would be just asking for an ambush. Sounds like a fully plausible scene though.

Thanks Gino, what type of cargo would be good for the M35 I dont plan to have it tarped unless it had to be. The AFV Club M35A2 cargo has the top mount 50 cal would it be correct to have this and a gunner.

If it is pulling a 105mm howitzer, the truck would have ammo and gear for the howitzer crew. Verlinden makes a 105mm ammo set.
Set #0093 105mm Howitzer Ammo
It would also have rations (C-Rats boxes), metal water jugs, tarps and maybe camo net bags, fuel cans, etc. Think of modern vehicles you have seen and then put similar gear on them for Vietnam era vehicles.
The m2 .50 cal would most likely be mounted and a gunner manning it.
As noted in your earlier M35A2 to A1 thread, it would most likely be an M35A1 pulling the howitzer though.
