I was in the middle of painting a figure for practice and It's turning out fairly nicely so I might add it to the figure and window contest. I'm only a beginner (1 1/2 yr), but so what if you don't get constructive critisisim you don't improve.

Anyways I need a window idea, so far I have the figure planned on being hidden in a rural french graveyard (I hope they look like french graveyards here), framed in by a wall (maybe becuase it's halloween I'm thinking of this). Generally the yards are next to the actual church, so I could put a wall with a picture of a church window in the background or a busted stained glass window on the ground, but I dont want to buy stained glass bits. Any other ideas on how to stick a window or piece of a window in this diorama/

you can buy stained glass sheets I believe

but it`s easier and a lot more fun to make it yourself
only requirement is a good printer

in the book and office shops you can buy those overhead projector sheets
you have to look for wich sheets you can print on your own computer
go on the internet and look for some pictures of stained glass windows
print them out and you have a beautifull stained glass window for almost nothing

You know, stained glass was extremely fragile... It was blown to pieces more often than it fell down nicely... But if you represent the wall of the church with the stained glass high up, that is going to be extremely nice !
So as to tour graveyard : in France, we always (well, nearly...) place a stone covering the tomb. It's never covered in grass as in english speaking countrys.

A way I create "stained glass windows" (or any windows that have to have something painted on them, like business signs) is quite simple... I draw it on my computer, them print it our on my color inkjet printer, using transparancy film found in any office supply store! Works quite well, and give you total control.



This particular photo is on the Armorama website in an article called "Last Rites". Notice There is a stained glass window in the upper left cornerof the church.

Surprise !
I just discovered this PDF file with nice stained glass windows. All you have to do is make a print on a piece of transparent (for overhead projectors) with your (or someone else's) color printer. Voilà.

You can cut the window to size, even better would be to print the glass first, and then make a window to fit the right size.
