Hey guys, im considering to buy the Tamiya Leopard 2 A6, its pretty expensive, 67000 LL, which is about 40$, but well worth it. Is there anything i need to knwo about this kit? And whats the type of military car on the box? When i took my time in the shop to read the instructions, i saw that the orange yadsyadayada mix can be replaced with flat Earth. Can i do that? And what advice can veteran builders of Leopards give me?

To the best of my knowledge, the 2A6 kit is the 2A5 kit with the addition of a longer barrel. The 2A5 kit is fantastic in my opinion. Great molding. I've built one as a Strv 122 conversion so I don't know how the whole thing goes together but the parts I used went together well.
The car on the box looks like a Wolf(Mercedes Benz 250 GD, LKW, leicht, 0,5t).

If you are concerned about the price, why not try the Italeri Leopard 2A5/6? It comes with both the longer and short barrel so you have a choice.

I just finished this kit and I have to say it was one of the best Tamiya kits I have built. The fit was great. I had the kit together in less than 2 weeks. That's incredibly fast for me concidering that it usually takes me 2-3 months to complete a kit.
I used some p/e on the kit and an aluminum barrel. The only advice I can give you is don't bother with the p/e for the 2 rear grills. The screens on the kit are actually better than the p/e!
I know the price for the kit is steep, but I don't think that you will be dissappointed.

Well, you see, ive vowed never to bother myself with Italeri crap anymore, that road is closed for Italeri tracked vehicles, oh no. Ive already had a disaster once... I got myself that ISu-152, and when i was proudly connecting the upper and lower hulls together ( i usually attach tracks last) i started to attach the painter tracks... You know what Italeri does, right? Weld the tracks,use a heated screwdrived, it takes a challenge to do it without damage to the tracks themselves and its hard enough to keep em on the wheels without disconnecting. For those purposes i use a superglue pin with its end flattened with a hammer. So i heated the pin and when i approached it, still flaming and red hot to the tracks, the benzene paint i used caught fire and ruined the connecting parts of the tracks, not to mention leaving a burn mark on the floor. I made it to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the tank, but the damage was done. I spent half an hour in shame, with a pin and needle, weaving the tracks together and giving a thourough paintjob, but it didnt help, it was a ruined model. Thats when i vowed never to make another Italeri tank ever again. And besides, my shop doesnt have the Italeri Leopard 2A6 :-) . And Majot,i usually build models in a week. I ONLY use super thin Tamiya Cement for best results (well, okay i use the simple one to connect bulk parts that are hidden,like the inner hull, etc..) and im sure, most will agree, that building the chassis of any vehicle is the hardest part. Paint, i have, lots of it and my brushes look like they've spent years in the trench wars. And one more question, can i use M-60 Tamiya active armor plates on ay other vehicle, Russian lets say? And last question, has anyone seen models of the T-95 Black Eagle MBT yet? That thing is going to shake our modeling imagination.

As far as I know, the only option for a Wolf is a resin kit from Elite Modell and I have no idea what you could convert to make a Wolf.
There are a few companies that make 1/35 resin modern Bundeswehr figures. I've only seen one set in plastic from Dragon and it is paratroopers from around the 80's era.

Besides the Jagaur set Rob mentioned, there are;
Goffy Models http://goffymodel.czweb.org/
Elite Modell http://www.elitemodell.de
MSJ-Produkte http://www.msj-produkte.de/msj.htm
that have a range on Bundeswehr figures.
I've got the Jaguar set and it looks to be molded rather well.
