Hello everyone..

I'm testing different types of whitewashing for a WWII Afv and here is my latest results. personally I kinda like this but does it look realistic?

this result from brushing on scale whitewash using water to crackle the spots on the right hand side.. and on the right hand side I brushed it thin with my finger after it dried.. then I dull coated it to get the final results..

I think it looks pretty good. I would try and get the appearance of some brush strokes in there too.

I like the looks of it too. Try the same mixture and apply it with a Q-tip. I'm interested in what results you would get with that.

Hey Delbert!
I like the right side example. You can add some light rust within the whitewash in parts as it often contained lime... Is it for the Ardennes, and on what AFV?

No problem.....

its simply weathering pastels and water... I'm using Doc O'brien's from micromark.. I simply mixed the highlight white with water and stirred it with my dremal tool...

painted it on with brush... as it dried touched up parts of it... till I got a good coverage..

after it dried I used a brush and water on the left side to try for some worn off effects...

and after it dried I used my thumb to brush the pigments a bit smoother.. and thinned out a bit.. acts a little like chalk on a blackboard.. LOL..

then dull coated... I think I will go with this method .. seems to work better for me than the paint methods i've tested.... and it it doesn't look good I can always wash it off and start over before I put on the dull coat....
