Hello to the soviet armor experts !
Are the tracks and wheels of the MTLB different from those of the shilka ?
Just as everyone, I'll need to replace the SKIF tracks...

Nope, they are the same. Both are based on the same chasis.

Might I suggest Friul tracks for the 2S1 Gvozdika (sp?) ALT-56 , which will fit the MTLB. Gives that saggy track look that these vehicles need.

Actually, the tracks used by the Shilka are NOT the same as on the MTLB.
The ZSU-23-4 is derived from the PT-76 chassis.
The MTLB chassis is an original vehicle design, along with its tracks. From the MTLB the 2S1 and MTLBu vehicle series have been made.
Aftermarket MTLB tracks are available from Fruilisimo and I am sure there are still some resin SP Designs tracks out there in the ether.
The tracks in the DML Shilka are excellent, but I also believe that Fruil did a set of them too.

The cheepest choice will be this:
MT-LB tracks and wheels
I bought this item as well. Some of the wheels were a little bit oval, but you won't see it after the tracks are installed. The tracks look different to those provided with the kit, but they are used at the MT-LB.
Happy modelling

Hi
Agreed. While they are an improvement over the kit wheels I found some of the Armo wheels to be either slightly oval or even "V" shaped. Good news is that depending on where you get them, they are really cheap.

Armo wheels and tracks are OK, but the Miniarm ones for the MTLB look way better, tracks are workable "click to assemble" individual tracks. Bit pricey though...

Thanks Christophe.
The miniarm products are interesting, but they are quite expensive... friul tracks might end up less expensive to get !
