Hi Guys,
I already finished my diorama for the TD campaign. Although its finished, I still feel that something is missing I just can't point a finger on it. Maybe you guys can suggest something...
Storyline:
Its the middle of summer and a convoy of Elefant together with a schwimmwagen is on the way to the front (Tarnopol or Galicia (?)). The Elefant accidentally hit a Teller(?) mine. The schwimm seeing the incident bolted from their vehicle and assumed defensive position in case of imminent attack. The guy with the MP40 in front is on guard while the crew scrambles to safety.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Arvin, in my opinion, it is an amazing dio! No need for changes! Very well painted vehicles and figures, good weathering, even better positioning of the whole "ingidients" on the battlefield...! Perfect! Congratulations!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Just at first look, I would slightly darken the dirt in the crater and sprinkle some of the "exposed" dirt and maybe a track link or two in the area around the blast. Also, do those guys really want to be stomping around in what might be a mine field? But, hey, that's just my opinion. Whatever you decide, that is excellent work!

Arvin, its excellent. You have a wonderful grasp for your ground work!!!! I love the scene but something seems to make me look for something to be in that open spot on the back side of the dio. Maybe an dead old tree stump or something of the like just to break up the openness back there? Regardless you have done excellent work on this so have a cyber beer on me Cheers Kevin

Prato: Thanks for the comments..
Art: Here is a closer view of the crater.
I'll probably add a few more dark washes, BTW, there are 3 track links in there, some of which were obscured by the dirt.
Kevin: When you say backside of the dio are you refering to the area near the schwimmwagen? The dead tree trunk must be one of the ingredients I'm looking for...
Thanks for the suggestions...
Cheers

I agree with kevin, there is alot of open space. Maybe in the next dio u could create a tighter composition. But other than that the groundwork is top notch and figures and tank are great too. Keep it up

If I'm not mistaken Arvin it appears you've topped up the lip of the crater as compared to your earlier post. For me the dio looks pretty good as it is and the uneven elevation really gives a 3D feel to it.
Open grasslands tend to be a bit stark anyway. At any rate if you still want to add anything I would add a bit of tall grass covering the front left corner of the 3rd photo. Just place it diagonally across the left corner but with a slightly uneven border that is facing the crater. Its to suggest to the viewer that the tall grass extend right across the front of the dio and the soldiers are worried about the ambush troops lurking in the grass. It may also help to counter balance the tall grass in the swamp at the opposite corner at the back.

CK: Yup I increased the amount of dirt and somewhat extended the crater a little bit , as you suggested before... .

thats one excellent Dio there. I do agree that its brilliant without further changes.
Since there is space to spare on this dio, i was thinking adding the tank's ammo and supplies next to the elefant? Most recovery operations would require the preservation of working ammo and fuel drums (if any) even food and water.
Spreading them on the ground somewhere would add another dimension to the dio. Just my 2 cents worth though.

Hi Arvin
Mate I like what I see you'e nailed the weathering and figure painting down to a tee.
I'll have to agree the elevation really gives it that 3D feel which is really hard to capture in model dio's as for the dirt and ground work I really like it 10/10 well done.

I think this is an amazing diorama. The story, vehicles and the figures are excellently fitted. I agree the idea of empty space. But this is not a problem.
Congrats on finishing this nice diorama

Hi Arvin,
Beautiful dio. Very good overall camouflage and colour composition.
How about adding some sort of wooden fence , partly destroyed by the explosion. (not to difficult to add at this stage).
Or even a broken telephone pole ?
A dead cow would be a little more difficult .
Cheers
Claude

Hi Guys,
Wih that kind of mine explosion., do you think it would propel even one of the road wheels and a track or two outside of the crater?
Thanks

Arvin;
Yeah, that's what I was thinking in my original response. I'm not sure about the road wheels, but one or two tracks would probably do it.

Art: In that case, then the propelled roadwheel and track would probably fill up the void on that side of the diorama...
Thanks again
