I have a Tamiya M113, Bradley, and Abrams in my build pile. While the rubber tracks are wholely adequate, I am considering getting plastic, resin, or even photo etched tracks for more realism. What are good products out there, where do I get them, and how much do they cost? Also, do you guys think the added detail is worth the extra work?

For the M113, it depends if the track skirt is going to be on or off. With it on, you don't see that much.

I've been meaning to pick up some of the Modelkasten SK-36 workable M113 tracks which I've heard are good. $18.95 at http://www.modelpoint.us

Most of my after-mart tracks comes from Modelkasten. You can also find after-mart tracks from Friulmodel which offers real metal tracks (indy-links) compared to Modelkasten plastic tracks (indy-links) but at higher prices. Both these products are avaible at Great Models Webstore.

If you are buidling an armour without its skirt or partially opened skirt e.g. Abrams, you might want want to consider these after-mart indy-link tracks.

I know AFV Club also offer track links for Abrams and M113.

AFV Club does plastic indi link track for M113s. They also do them for M1 Abrams, both T-156 Chevron and T-158 square block "Bigfoot track".

Academy also has M113 track and older, triange block, Bradley indi links in plastic as well.

Blast does a full track set with newer, rectangular block for Bradleys and AAV7-A1s. They also have full running gear replacement sets.

The AFV Club workable tracks for the M1A1 kit is well worth the money and time, as the results are great. Much better than the rubber band and the indy links don't seem to sit right, at least for me. There are a few shots of these tracks used on my M1A1's in my gallery.

I currently am putting together a set of Friuelmodel metal tracks for my AAV that I am building, which of course can be used for the Bradley. Tedious, slow and patient are words I would use to describe the assembly, but as with the AFV Club tracks, the results are worth it. Its about as close to the real thing as you can get.

Good luck

AFV Club only makes the T-158 "Bigfoot" tracks.

Armour Track Models makes the only single link early style T-156 tracks. Nice set that includes sprockets and idlers. They are set #TK-02. They also make the T-158 and it is set #TK-03.

AFV Club made a nice, affordable set of US style M113 tracks that are OOP. They were one of AFV's first products and were set #AF3501.
