Hi All,
Has anyone used these acrylic paints for armour modelling and how do they compare to Tamiya acrylics and does anyone have a link or list of the full humbrol acrylic range?
I'm planning on building a T-80 tank and I don't want to spray enamels if I can help it.
alternatively, is ther another brand availabe in the UK with a good selection of colours?
TIA
Tom

In Acrylics in the UK, easily available are Hannant's own range, Vallejo Air, and Tamiya. The Tamiya you should be able to get from a local model shop, the other two you can order from Hannant's, be aware though that they will not ship paints unless you order a kit at the same time due to packing considerations.

Johnny,
According to a (rather old) humbrol colour chart I have, their acrylic range exists (or existed). However it was pretty limited in the range of colours. I was just wondering how many other colours have been added to the range since my chart was printed.
Ah Well, looks like I'm off to my LHS to trawl through to the Humbrol display stand.

Ive only ever used Tamiya acrylics and but i do use the humbrol satin gloss to seal the decals and they work just as well as the Tamiya range. Not entirely sure about the paints itself.

Hi Tom. Since Ive gotten into the hobby, I have never heard a good word about humbrol acrylics. A toy shop near me used to sell them, and they had quite an extensive range ... lots bright pastel colours ... but Im sure they had the usual greens, sands, browns, greys, etc. as well. Because of what I read, I never actually tried them.
Another choice of paint that might be convienient for you is the warhammer range. Ive seen quite a few modellers here in Sweden that use them, because they are common, and have good results ... both brushed and air-brushed. They use them for the bulk paint jobs and only buy through the internet what cant be ordered locally. They have a very good line of metallics and inks as well. Only downside is they dont have colours we take for normal .. ie; olive drab. But ifits vomit-green you´re after ... :-)
