Hi Guys. The only reference I have for the DUKW is the Squadron in action book, and I can’t find anything else on DUKW camo used in Europe. I have resurrected the Italeri kit and would like to something with it, other than olive drab. I know there’s the 3-colour camo, as used in the Pacific, but I’m more interested in the European theatre.
Have the US ever used camo in the Euro campaign? Any help, tips or pics would be very much appreciated. Thanks a million.

On p. 23 of Zaloga's "US Tank Battles in N Africa and Italy" there's a picture of a DUKW with heavy sand-colored camouflage in operations off the Anzio beachhead.

Correction: not Anzio but Ghela during the Sicily landings.

Frank, the British used white ones in Malaya in the 60's, and even the Boston Police used black & white ones in the 70's. I don't think the US camouflaged any in Europe, but the British did. Sicily '43. Black & brown. I can e-mail a pic if any good?

Wow there is a God! Thanks for the info guys.
Roy; I dont suppose there´s anyway you could scan or photograph that picture? Quality isn´t an issue, its just to get a better idea of the pattern. If not, could you describe the pattern? Is it an OD and sand, tiger-stripe type camo? Any further info would be appreciated.
Vinnie; I have a figure already planned for this, and he is a US mechanic, thats why I was interested in keeping it a US vehicle.
I just felt, because its such a long vehicle, camo would look cool on it. I have some reference and model pics of Britsh and US pacific camo, and they look cool. The PTO is not my area of interest ... more into the ETO.
Its one of those vehicles that you want to build, but then can´t decide what to do with it. I placed a 105mm in the cargo area (before Italeri released this version)to start out with, but it doesn´t fit -- later version came with cut outs. Then Mr. Roo kindly sent me tarp frames from the 2.5 ton truck and I bought the Tamiya accessory set to get the machine gun frame. Then I placed milliput tarps, but have since removed them. Camo is hopefully going to be what I settle for.
Now that I know it has been done at least once, I can proceed. I just didnt want to do it, if it was totally wrong. A little stretch of the truth, I can live with!
Thanks once again.
