I recieved mine last weekend. How cool is it to own a real Panzer IV track link! Was yours a good bit rusty? I think that I am going to have mine sandblasted. Would that be a bad idea? If so what would you suggest doing?

We got them from a guy who was selling them on E-Bay. A month or so ago, Sohcahtoa posted a message saying that he had just picked up a piece of memorabilia (I can't remember what it was now -- it may have been a Panther towing clevis) off of E-Bay and that his next purchase was going to be a Panzer IV track-link that someone on E-Bay had about 20 of and was selling. I decided that I wanted one and bought one myself. The same guy is currently selling a Panzer III/IV track link (the version with hollow guide teeth) now. Go here if you are interested.

mine was a bit dirty, i cleaned it in the bath tub with a tooth brush and a lot of the dirt came off. i let it soak for about a hour and then went at it.
i know nothing about sandblasting but isn't that a bit abrasive?
