Does anyone know of a kit of the US Army version of the HET besides the $450.00 Accurate Armor kit? At that price I would be almost afraid to assemble the kit.

There is no alternative. However, this is a superb kit and was much easier to build than it looks. Every once and a while one will pop up on eBay. I purchased my that way for $250.00USD.

Wow, you got a steal. Still too much if you ask me. I built one for a customer, he paid full price for it plus my build fee. It did go together pretty easily. It is a complete kit with PE, wire, chain, decals, etc. all included. Really nice.
You can check out completd and in-progress shots here.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I have to agree with Gino that although it is a very nice kit I think for the price i will hold off for now, and I may pick up the Trumpeter Faun to do a Tank Transporter. My Leopold 2 could use a ride

The trumpeter Faun would not be the appropriate ride for a 2A5 or 2A6. The trailer is not rated for that heavy of a tank. The AA Faun kit is however heavy enough. MMIR did an excellent write up describing the differences.

There are rumors I hope to solidify in the next month or so that Trumpeter is looking into producing the "super" HET. This is a great rumor, but still, only a rumor.

Tamiya did such a great job with the Dragon Wagon and the Famo. I will keep hoping they do a HET.

I'll add my voice to the chorus calling for a Super HET in 1/35 plastic. I've seen Gino's outstanding work with the AA version as well as drooled over it on the AA website, but I just don't think I can ever convince myself to let go of that much cash for a single kit.

Not that I have personal issues with Mr. T, but I hope DML would make one...
Based on the Panther II and the even better (so I read) M1A1 AIM & M1A2 SEP, it will be great and about half the price of a Tamiya...

It is most likely that Trumpeter would produce it. They already have 2 Heavy Tank Transporters in their inventory and a 3rd in the works. They also have lots of other softskins and semi-trucks as well. DML doesn't really have a history of softskins, with the exception of a few Soviet armored cars, BRDMs and BTRs. Tamiya's would be rediculously over priced, in my opinion.

can anyone get ahold of good, proper pics of the HET without trouble? I mean with the red/white dimension sticks and such.
If I can lay hands on them, I may be able to get them into Trumpeter's hands, if they need them.

We have HET's parked outside our shop ever once in a while. Next time I see one, I will try and get some picks.
Then again, my butt might be in Lousiana here in the next couple of days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it might have to wait awhile!
