Setting:
A German Sniper has been sitting waiting for the perfect kill for almost a day and a half now. Its time of change in the weather, but it is still cold and some snow is still on the ground, a sprinkle of rain just started. He is sitting in an abandoned water tower at the train yard in Budapest 1945 that has been hit by some stray AA fire. He is looking through the penetration hole the stray bullets caused, over looking the train yard from up above, when he all of a sudden hears some light movement from down below. All his senses become red alert, he can't get spotted now, his mission is not accomplished yet.
What he dont know is that the movements he hears is from an old dog sniffing around.
The Materials:
A custom base out of underlaminate from left over ceiling work - $1.50
Balsa wood used for tower - $2.00
Used Hardees Cup for the water tank - $0.00
Copper Sheet used for water tank - $2.50
Foam Board for train yard warehouse front - $2.00
Window Frames (6), resin copies - $1.00
Figures head and hands - $2.00
Magic Sculpt Putty used - $3.00
+ what ever else I use
Estimated total cost of $14, this may change as I progress though
The Modeling:
Tower is 95% finished, needs some putty work and bolts added before ready for painting.
Water Tank is 50% finished, Hardees cup cut cown to size, plasticard bottom, copper sheet ready to get rivited on.
Base and Figure isnt started yet
Will keep you updated on progress with pictures to follow.

Hola Jan,
Well, there wont be no railroad tracks I took the hardees cup and cut about 1-2 cm off one of the ends so you can see inside the watertower, kind of like a cut away. This is the side that the railroad tracks would be on I thought about making a way for the RR tracks, but it just couldnt fit in :
This sniper wont be as cold as Mr. Voldemar but cold enough for me and him alike, we both like spring time!
And yes its all going to fit on a 4x6 base!!! You'll see. Im going to take some better pictures of the MG Gunner and of my progress on this little vignette!

Yodaman,
I haven't lifted a finger for my project either. All day, I've been working on the M35's fule cell and pump. Those are all done and painted now. Tomorrow I have to do some repairwork at the M35 and then I'll put the fuel cell in the back. Maybe I repaint the truck. I don't know yet.
All this time, I do nothing but think what setting little Volkmar will be placed in. Will it be at a farmhouse, maybe somewhere in the Ardennes or in Poland ? Or in a big city ? Brussels or Paris ? Maybe something recognizable. I had set my thoughts on a Guimard Art Nouveau metro entrance in Paris as a background.
Little Volkmar could be standing next to the metro entrance, maybe trying to keep warm by a wood fire in a steel drum. But there would not be enough room to fit a building (= window !) in as well.
An alternative may be the facade of a fancy building in Paris or Brussels, Volkie standing guard in the cold outside while the officers are warm and cosy inside.
I'll let it sink in... I like the Art Nouveau idea, though !

My last post on the contest thread vanished... So, German a sniper crouched on the roof of a Dutch house on the outskirts of Oosterbeek as the British 1st airborne perimeter shrinks... Just waiting on a target of opportunity, crouching on top of, what else, a dormer window. Scratchbuilding just the roof of the house out of old paneling and balsa, grabbed the figure from the spares box. I’ll send along some in progress pics if I can figure out how.
