Hiya.
Just bought the Heller AMX 30/105 off Ebay (won it with a Leclerc T5).
Can anybody tell me if it would take much work (if any) to build it as whatever variant was used by the French during desert storm and what colour scheme would they have used. (any pics would be appreciated).
Thanks guys.

Hi Sapper131,
welcome to the French armor
To build your AMX into a Operation Daguet MBT you'll need to make some mods.
First of all, the Heller kit is an early version not the one in service with the French army at that time. The engine deck, the rear deck need to be modified. Nothing terrific but necessary I fear.
The turret is to be modified to. The sights have been changed since the introduction of the laser rangefinder and the thermal imager to the right of the gun.
To convert it into the GW1 tank, you'll have to add the Dazzler-like emitter on top of the turret as well as the new supplemental smoke dischargers.
If you want, have a look to the one I built with the help off the Azimut conversion set. This set helps you converting the Heller kit into a right AMX30B2 as seen in the Gulf operations.
The tracks are relevant for this period even if they're quite tricky to assemble.

Hi,
Sure it's not exactly the same but come straight from " Desert Storm " :

At least you'll get an idea for the kind of color

I personnally use Tamiya colors,
XF64 Red Brown
a mix of XF60 Desert Yellow and XF ? Flat Yellow, 50% each. You might need to adjust this mix in comparison with original pics.

Try to fax them directly even if they are not rated highly for their shipping service.
Here is Azimut faxnumber +33 1 44 59 33 48
Better phone them prior any order to be sure of the availability of the kits you want
