Thanks for the Link James. There are a lot of photos that I didn't have.
As far at stowage on the outside of the tanks, you would not find too much. As a general rule if it didn't fit in the busse rack it went inside or left behind. Because of the terrain we could not stow very much on the sides because it would be torn off. We could get into trouble for even leaving C-ration cans laying about. The Viet Cong and NVA's are very smart people and they can use anything to make a weapon. So you did not take any more than you had to have. Mostly ammunition and water.

You could always go for the sandbagged turret as seen on this M-48.

These afv's were used as static out post for convoy security and sometimes for village security. I used to see these tanks at bridge crossings and at check points or at RON's (remain overnight sites).

That is a cool as well as a valuable picture. I think I might do something like that on my M60A2.
My dad served on the M60A2s in Germany and I have a great photo of him doing an exercise. I might try and get a good scan of it.
Good luck on the M48.

My dad was in Vietnam and he told me one time they used chain-link fence on thier tanks.
If you could make a 1/35th or whatever scale you are using, that would make a cool and unusual addition.
