Hi all,
I'm nearly done ( I think) with this one. It's been a long time coming, I started the Jagdpanther over a year ago... I need to clean up a few details, such as the MG barrel and some spare track links but overall I'm happy with it. Just wondering about the base, I would appreciate your opinions, as an extra pair of eyes always see the (obvious ) bits you've missed.
And now, without further ado, the photo's
As always, thanks for your attention and feed back
Cheers
Henk

Cool, it looks 1/72 scale?
Overall it's very nice I like its simplicity. The leaves are great.
Couple of points I see - The fan could use a bit of a wash to give it a bit more shadow on the inside of the fan shroud.
If this is 1/72 I wouldn't consider fixing this one - the 3rd photo 1st wheel -it has a bit of yellow over paint on the rubber section. If this is 1/35 I'd touch that up, if its not it will be hard to see when viewing live.

Thanks Scott,
I forgot to give any details didn't I
It's the Revell 1:35 Late Jagdpanther, hence no zimmerit and the tools and cleaning rod tube mounted on the back. The ground work is mixed herbs, and the bush is something or other ( i'm no botanist :-) ) I found in the garden.
I will touch up the wheels, although you can't really see it that well 'in the flesh', once you know it's there it neeeds to be fixed... I'm also hoping to add some screens over the air vents, but that's not a priority at the moment. I'll have to look on ebay again and hope to catch a set.
Cheers

Hi Rick
yes, the MG is snapped, I'll refix it last to avoid any more accidents, same goes for the star aerial on the left rear of the superstructure.
As it's meant to be the early spring 1945, I'll leave the leaves (ho ho) more or less as the are, as the are dead ground litter.
Figures... I am still toying with the idea of a single entry hole in the side, from a AP round, which would have killed the crew inside. (hence the closed hatches) In that case I'll add more leaves around and on top of the Jagdpanther.
I never seem to make up my mind as to how I finish a dio/vignette untill I'm finished..
Thanks
Henk

Looking good Henk!
I wonder if the ground litter should be heavier under the shrub?
I'd be proud if it was one of mine though

Cheers Sean,
There is a larger buildup of leaves under the bush, but it doesn't show very well in the photo. I'll work on that to make it stand out a bit more. I'm trying to make some mushrooms later to add aswel...
You've nothing to be ashamed of in your own gallery mind, I really like how you use those backgrounds behind your dio's...

I think this fine - the camo paint job has especially nice blended edges.

I think its nicely done! With regards to the base and the leaves, you might want to get more leaves stuck in the tracks to imply movement done by tank.

Hi Henk , great little scene to show off your Jagdpather.
A couple of thoughts, if early spring, the leaves may be a little more flattened out, from the snow cover (they look fresh), also I really like the branch under the track, maybe bring it forward and bring the end up higher to look like its just being snapped (cool). I like the way the treads are under the leaves, implying weight. Depending on how much moisture is still on the ground maybe some leaves stuck to the back of the treads,
I also like the barrel extending past the "frame" of the dio. I also like the little bit of damage on the tank, (every pic you see of these seem to show some damage of some type)
Looking good
Bruce

Another great piece of work Henk.
I my humble opinion, I think a little bit of dust on the track and wheels, would make this beauty even better.

Thanks for the comments guys, I would like to respond a bit quicker but at the moment my access is a bit patchy... .
Keith, thanks for the compliment, I feel that I'm getting the hang of my airbrushes now. Unfortunatly I can only work with them on my nightshifts if I don't have to go out, as with most things modeling it's practise that makes (almost ) perfect.
Bruce and Jeremy, I'll be adding some more leaves around the tracks, and will do a small experiment to see if I can create 'thrown up' leaves behind the tracks to imply movement.
I'm glad you spotted that one Bruce, the pic doesn't show it very well, but thats just what I did. I'll angle the branch up a little more to make it a little bit more obvious..
This is one of the most overlooked things in most diorama's/vignettes. A 60 ton tank does not float on top of soft ground... . Although the tracks bring down the ground pressure to a level where ( in theory...don't try this at home.. ) you can run a tank over your foot without pain, they will still imprint on the ground.
And also with regards to the barrel sticking out of the vignette, this is a technique which can be tricky. Easy to overdo and make it look like your base is to small for the vehicle.
Hi Jesper, a bit of dust ( pigments) will be added when it's all done to finish it.
Cheers
Henk
